Sex sells, once the news broke of the females working together, there was only one topic that came to mind. “Lick” is the title of their collaboration and it was produced by Rvssian.
Denise Belfon is a Trinidadian recording artist who did “Work” in 1998, the chorus has been sampled by Shenseea. A lot of people online have been commenting on whether Denise Belfon will be paid copyrights. These are two major artists working for big labels, all samples will have to be cleared, if not, there will be a lawsuit pending.
Raunchy, eye candy, sex appeal can describe the official music video, both artists have their assets on display, booty jumping all over the place. The official video was released on January 21, 2022, and has already accumulated more than a million views.
Now, this is where it gets interesting, Shenseea fans are voicing their opinions about the song.

Fans are the foundation of any artist’s growth, but you can’t please all your fans, all the time. Major labels have powerful marketing strategies which include getting your attention, maybe everyone is playing exactly into their objective.
The subject matter “Lick” isn’t one most male Dancehall artists are comfortable speaking about publicly. Is this a double standard? Male Dancehall artists sing about ladies doing all sorts to them. Now, that’s another topic completely.
