No Comments News

Dancehall Resume turns its spotlight on one of Dancehall’s most progressive new generation talent. Born in 1991, July 15 in St. Thomas, Jamaica. At a very young age, Andre Sutherland moved to Portmore, St. Catherine.

The first single on the mix ‘Dream‘ captures the vision of the star to take music and make a better life for himself and his mother.

With a dream to one day, as he says, “Mi name global like Guinness”, Popcaan’s break came when he was spotted by his idol Vybz Kartel at a local talent contest and things took off from there. Taken under Kartel’s wing, Popcaan burst onto the scene with a feature on “Clarks,” a single on this mix and he left a footprint just like the famous shoes!

With a distinctive voice and impressive instinct for melody, this mix captures some of his international hits, from “Only Man She Want” to “Ravin.”With tunes like “Gangster City” to “Party Shot” and many more.

With international hits comes the international spotlight!. Popcaan became the first Dancehall artist since Sean Paul to have his track play-listed on the BBC, shortly followed by a US Billboard chart placement.

His well-known catchphrase, Yooow, and charismatic energy have led him to cult status,  worldwide following, and loyal admiration from  Drake as well as features with Busta and Snoop.

Continuing the course to stardom, this resume mix features some of the amazing productions, musical engineering, and composing of Mixpak’s  Dre Skull, Anju Blaxx, Adde Productions among many more.
