Phones Changing the Concert Experience

Teejay reflected on how the presence of phones has completely changed the energy of live shows. “It’s different now,” he said. “People used to be fully in the moment, reacting to every beat. Now, everyone’s capturing the moment instead of living it.” Still, the artist acknowledges the pros and cons, noting that digital visibility has played a big role in taking Dancehall global, and time has changed.

He Didn’t Dance… Until ‘Drift’

Surprisingly, Teejay revealed that he wasn’t much of a dancer until he made the breakout hit ‘Drift’. The song not only took off on social media but also pulled him into a new performance zone. “I just couldn’t hold back anymore, I was drifting, sometimes I would get it right, other times not so good. The vibe was different with that song.”

Teejay had high praise for his City Splash performance in London, calling it one of the most unforgettable moments in his career. “The energy from that crowd was unreal. They knew every lyric, every drop. That kind of love motivates you to go even harder.”

Finally, we asked Teejay one of the most debated questions in the industry: Can Dancehall unite? His answer was hopeful. “It can happen. There’s so much talent and so much power in Dancehall. If we come together, and it’s happening right now.”
